A Guide to IoT Connectivity Options

December 28, 2025·10 min read

For connected products, how your devices communicate is as important as what they send. Choosing the wrong option can lead to signal dropouts and battery drain.

Short-Range: BLE & WiFi

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is ideal for wearables and local mesh networks. WiFi remains the standard for high-bandwidth data transfer where power is readily available.

Long-Range: LoRa & LTE-M

For devices deployed in remote areas where infrastructure is sparse, LoRa provides long-range, low-power connectivity. LTE-M offers the reliability of cellular networks with significantly lower power requirements than traditional 4G/5G.
